In light of the continued risk of spreading COVID19 the Board has made the extremely difficult decision to postpone our 2020 season until 2021. We have given the matter a great deal of consideration and have weighed every possible alternative. The state of Montana, and therefore the venues that we use for meetings and gatherings, still have restrictions in place which would limit attendance. We have considered virtual meetings , however with the number of members and the various possibilities for technical difficulties, we decided that it would be best to wait until next year to gather.
One of the best things about the GCWC is the camaraderie and fellowship that we all enjoy. With our excitement to greet each other, it would be nearly impossible to ensure everyone's safety. Additionally, we have heard from several members who will not be traveling to Big Sky this summer and for those that do there is a mandatory 14 day quarantine once they arrive. As I'm sure you are, the Board is very disappointed, but as always, we feel that the wellbeing and safety of the Members is paramount. We plan to evaluate the state of the pandemic to determine how to best proceed with the Annual Business Meeting in September, so look for those details in the next several weeks. The Program Committee did an outstanding job of organizing an incredible line-up of speakers and we hope that they will all be able to reschedule for next year!
Your membership dues for 2021 will be optional, as we will roll your 2020 dues over to next year. We will register next year as usual so that you will have the opportunity to donate to philanthropy and/or the GCWC Scholarship fund as well as indicate your interests and make program suggestions for the future.
My best wishes for good health and joyful moments as we continue through this journey,
Stacey Chapman President, GCWC
