GCWC 2023 Registration is happening! (Click "Membership" if you misplaced your form) A message from our President
Welcome to our 96th season!! Our Board met early in January to organize this year’s events. Enthusiasm abounds for a stellar slate of programs, a variety of social activities, expanded opportunities for participation, and ways to increase our membership. Thirteen new members joined our ranks last year, bringing our membership to 166 (124 paid members and 42 life members). Consider inviting ladies to a meeting: those new to Big Sky, neighbors, activity partners, and members of other groups. I recently used my GCWC-elevator pitch to seven women; six expressed interest in joining! We’ll soon celebrate our 100th year of being a Big Sky organization: a great time to get involved, expand our membership, and meet other women who make a difference in our community. When completing the 2023 Registration Form, and I strongly encourage everyone to express interest in either a committee or an interest group to strengthen GCWC and enhance your value as a GCWC member. Some new/on-going opportunities for participation include:
Book Club featuring light books: fewer than 300 pages, perhaps silly or providing a giggle during our off-season (October-April) on fourth Wednesdays (1:00-2:30) at BASE;
LaLunatics: work on craft projects (quilting, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, embroidering, etc. with others); meets first and third Wednesday afternoons at BASE;
Welcome, Friend: introduce a new member to GCWC and your friends/other members to ensure she feels comfortable and excited about our Club;
Promotional Committee: join others to expand GCWC’s presence in Big Sky and beyond by developing materials for distribution and enhancing press and social media presence;
Centennial Celebration Committee: how should GCWC celebrate our 100th year: Create a cookbook? Big Sky Community function? Visible Community project? Let’s discuss!
Also, please note that after maintaining our annual membership dues at $30 for several years, the Board increased our dues to $35, reflective of increased costs.
Please consider inviting a guest or two (including spouses/significant others: yes, men are invited!) to attend a special event with speaker Cam Sholly, Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, on Friday evening, June 30th. Cam will update us on “Yellowstone after the Floods” and answer your questions. This could be a Date Night or simply an opportunity to hear an amazing speaker on one of Montana’s vital resources.
We look forward to seeing all of you at our annual opening “Brunch” on Wednesday, May 24 at Olive B’s. In the meantime, please complete the Registration Form and return to GCWC. Warmest regards, Jane D. McCarthy - President, GCWC
