This scholarship was established in 1977 to commemorate the club's 50th Anniversary. As of 2015 this scholarship is now offered through Friends of Big Sky Education (FOBSE), a 501(c)(3) organization. The club's scholarship liaison works closely with the FOBSE committee to review the applications submitted by the upcoming graduates. The following is the approved criteria used to award the scholarship (in April) to a Lone Peak Graduate. The Gallatin Canyon Women's Club Scholarship candidate will be female. She should be academically strong or have shown considerable growth over her high school career. Any candidate should have involvement in extracurricular activities, athletics, volunteering, family responsibilities, paid work or educational activities outside of the classroom. The candidate and her family should be active members of the Big Sky Community. Financial need may be considered.
Donations are collected a year in advance, funds collected in 2026 will be awarded in 2027. Members have several ways to donate to the GCWC/FOBSE Scholarship (all amounts contributed directly to FOBSE are tax-deductible*)
1. *Send a check directly to FOBSE at PO Box 160633, Big Sky, MT 59716 (please indicate GCWC on the memo line).
2. *Include a second check payable to FOBSE with your registration form.
3. Indicate an additional amount with your GCWC registration dues (Not tax deductible).
