An observer of this recipient’s work with children at Camp Moonlight described her as the leader of 7 year olds who followed her around like ducklings after their mother. Perhaps it’s Ivy Hicks’ curious nature that is so appealing to youngsters…..and really “all those around her admire her – not just children.” Ivy tells us “I can’t wait to try a bunch of new things in college!” Will those “things” be math-related? Biology-related? Environment-related? Astronomy-related? Most likely All of the Above. The things that Ivy will try out will be “new” because she will find the connections. Since her essays serve as models for her class and classes to come, we know that she will articulate her future discoveries wonderfully for everyone to understand. From volleyball and basketball courts to the WMPAC jazz band state to the many other venues, Ivy approaches everything with grace and tenderness.
Ivy will be attending Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington.
