Samantha Suazo - GCWC 2022 FOBSE recipient

Esta lista para estudiar en una Universidad de primer nivel.  Si, we are talking about Lissy Samantha Suazo Vasquez, who is definitely headed to a top-notch university where she will study political science and government.  Samantha immigrated from Honduras and entered Grade 4 at Ophir Elementary School.  Her parents came to the United States to procure for their family a good education and a safe place to live.  Samantha learned English quickly and uses her language skills to translate for many families at banks, hospitals, and school.  Her Noticias Montana, the first of its kind in Montana, keeps many of our community members informed about local, regional and national news.  When Samantha sees a need, she creates a program to respond, whether it's founding and operating her parents’ businesses or instituting the Latino Student Union. Her teachers tell us that she lives an incredibly purpose-driven life – vivacious, charismatic, tenacious and extremely motivated.  It is these very characteristics that landed Samantha a place in a highly competitive semester program at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa and a LEDA Scholarship (Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America).
